Our Facilities

The heart of Mariposa Institute is a cluster of rustic, hand-built wooden buildings, surrounded by 115 beautiful acres of oak and madrone forest, a sunny meadow and rocky hillsides. Two seasonal creeks and a waterfall traverse the property. Go to our reservations & rates page for information on how to book your retreat.

The Yurt is available for day workshops or overnight retreats. It comes with a wood-burning stove (wood provided), electricity and lighting, twenty cushioned chairs, carpeted floors, and scenic views from windows on all sides. The yurt can seat up to forty people and can be used as a classroom, yoga studio, meditation center, or sharing circle. Its located across from bathroom facilities and the kitchen.


A converted classroom now functioning as a dormitory with room for 12 people to sleep comfortably on bunkbeds with twin mattresses. There are five extra mattresses that can be put out on an enclosed deck connected by sliding door to the dormitory. Clean sheets and pillows are provided but guests are expected to bring sleeping bags and/or bedding. There is a sink, electricity, lighting, and fans or heaters available.


Originally crafted to be a functioning woodshop for the school, this structure now serves a variety of purposes including classroom, workshop, dormitory, and arts & crafts room. Its unique and endearing design makes it perfect for children’s workshops , with a large floor plan that can fit up to 25 people in chairs and 6 tables. Large windows on all sides bring in plenty of light. There is a sink, electricity, tables, chairs, 10 small folding mattresses, lighting, and two small lofts.


This spacious large classroom is the perfect place for focused instruction, performances, meetings, celebrations, art classes, and much more! Restroom Facilities

There are two restrooms located in the main cluster of school buildings, connected to the dormitory, kitchen and classroom. One bathroom has 3 toilet stalls and a shower, sink and electrical outlets.
